Tradeswomen Now and Tomorrow (TNT)
A national coalition of tradeswomen's organizations and advocates

Dear Colleagues:

Tradeswomen Now and Tomorrow (TNT) is pleased to invite you to our second annual meeting, to be held in Washington, DC, on June 5-7, 2003. We are very excited to be meeting in Washington to share our national agenda in the nation's capital with key policymakers and our partners. The meeting will be an opportunity to learn more about TNT's policy proposals, network with other tradeswomen advocates and meet with many of our industry and legislative partners. We are thrilled to co-sponsor with NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund a special Congressional Luncheon to be hosted by Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY), Patty Murray (D-WA), and Susan Collins (R-ME). At that luncheon we will welcome other congressional leaders to share their commitment to women's participation in the trades. We are also looking forward to hearing greetings from our labor partners at a reception to be held at International Brotherhood of Carpenters.

The mission of TNT is to promote policies and actions that achieve women's economic equity by increasing the numbers of women in trade and technical jobs and by improving their working conditions. For more information about TNT, please visit http://www.tradeswomennow.org. We have an important story to share with policymakers, labor and employer partners, and other national organizations about how women's access and retention in high-wage, high skilled jobs can improve women's economic equity, build communities and support a competitive economy.

We hope you will join us and help us bring that story to life through your own examples and that of your members and programs. In addition to two showcases featuring successful strategies for recruiting, training and supporting tradeswomen (and identifying resources to fund these programs) and building support for tradeswomen through their unions, the annual meeting will feature reports on the "State of the Movement" from both a national and local perspective and small discussion groups on in-depth program and strategy development. Your participation is desired and welcomed. (If you would like to be part of a showcase or the small group discussion please indicate on your registration form below.)

To register for the TNT Annual Meeting, please fill out the attached form and return it with your $125 registration fee by May 30th to the specified address. We have reserved a block of rooms at the rate of $125 plus tax per night at the Hotel Washington, which is located near the Capitol and the conference meeting space at the IBEW Headquarters. Note that to ensure space at the hotel, reservations must be made by May 19th.

In Sisterhood,

Lauren Sugerman
