What Can ½ of 1% OJT/SS
Funds Be Used For?

States may use their ½ of 1% OJT/SS funding to provide such services as:

• Pre-employment counseling
• Orientation to the expectations and requirements of the highway construction industry
• Basic skills improvement
• Support for contractor recruiting, counseling, remedial training, and physical examinations
• Assistance with child care, transportation, tools, and work clothing
• Job-site mentoring and post-graduation follow-up
• Development and funding of Summer Transportation Institutes

Under TEA-21, states may use OJT/SS funding for highway and bridge construction related training and for technology training (research, intelligent transportation systems, etc.)
